UPSC IFS Exam

Union Public Service Commission holds various examination every year. It is the Constitutional body in India which conducts various examinations to the services of the Union. Indian Forest service (IFS ) is one of the All India Services of the Indian Government. Its employees are selected by the UPSC.

UPSC is conducting IFS exam this year also. So applications are invited for the same.

Important Dates :
Date of Notification : 12.03.2011
Last date of receipt of application form : 11.04.2011
UPSC IFS 2010 written exam date : 0.07.2011

IFS No.of vacancies : 84

UPSC IFS Age criteria : The candidate should not be less than 21 yrs. of age & more than 30 yrs. as on 01.07.2011. The upper age is relaxed for SC / ST / OBC categories.

IFS Eligibility criteria / Educational Qualification : The applicant must have Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with at least one of the subjects like Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering. The degree must be from a recognized university.

UPSC IFS Application fee : General category & OBC candidates have to pay the fee  of Rs. 100/-. SC /ST / PH candidates are exempted from this.

UPSC IFS Application Procedure : The candidates have to fill the form completely & correctly & send it to the Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi – 110069. The application form has to be send by ordinary post / speed post / courier.

IFS number of attempts : A candidate can only attempt for few times. This is different for different categories. For general category, one can give 4 attempts whereas OBC candidates can give 7 attempts & SC / ST candidates has no limit to the attempts.
