TANCET is the entrance test conducted by the Anna university, Chennai. It is the test which is the mandatory for all the students aspiring to get admission in postgraduate degree courses like MBA, MCA, ME, MTech, M.Arch & M.Plan. This test is scheduled every year in the month of May. The interested students can apply online or through post as per their convenience.

TANCET Exam Pattern : The exam pattern is different for different programs.

TANCET MBA EXAM PATTERN : There will be100 objective type questions divided in  5 sections. The time allotted will be 2hrs. i.e 120 mins. The various sections are -

A.  Business situation analysis : In this, questions will be there to evaluate the ability of candidate to identify the critical data & apply them in business decisions in a given business situation.

B.  Reading Comprehension : In this capability of the candidate to attempt the questions based on the comprehension passage will be assessed.

C.  Quantitative section : In this, candidates will be given to solve the mathematical questions based on graduate & 10+2 level.
D.   Data sufficiency : The candidate’s ability to interpretate the data & use it to answer the questions will be analyzed.
E.   Verbal ability : In this knowledge of English language is checked based on questions related to grammar, errors in usage, punctuation etc.

Each question will be provided with 5 answers & the correct one has to be selected. There will also be negative marking for incorrect answer. For each wrong answer, 1/5 mark will be deducted & each correct answer will be awarded 1 mark.

TANCET MCA EXAM PATTERN : There will be 100 objective type questions divided in 4 sections to be attempted in 2 hrs. The sections are -

A.  Logical reasoning
B.  Computer awareness
C.  Analytical reasoning
D.  Quantitative Ability

Also there will be some questions on verbal activity, basic science etc. Each question will be provided with 4 answers & you have the select the correct one. each question will be of 1 mark & for each wrong answer 1/4 mark will be deducted.

TANCET M.Tech. / M.E. / M.Arch. / M.Plan EXAM PATTERN : This question paper is divided in 3 parts  & the total duration allotted will be 2 hrs.
Part I : Engineering Mathematics – there will be 30 objective type questions.
Part II : Basic Engineering & science – there will be 45 objective type questions. you just have to solve 30 questions. Each correct answer will be given 1 mark & for each wrong answer 1/4 mark will be deducted.
Part III : Specialization- There will be 14 sections based on specialization. you have to choose only one section & answer a minimum of 40 questions. Each correct answer will be awarded 1 mark & for each wrong answer 1/4 mark will be deducted.
