Oncology Certified Nurse OCN Exam

Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) Exam is schedules for the nurses who are practicing. This is taken by nurses just to avail the title of Certified Oncology Nurse. Generally , 4 certification exams are conducted. These are ONC (Oncology certified Nurse), AOCNP (Advanced Oncology Certified nurse Practitioner), CPON (Certified Pediatrics Oncology Nurse) & AOCNS (Advanced Oncology  Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist).

About OCN Exam : This is conducted 4 times in a year i.e in the months of January, April, July & October. But this all are computer based. Pencil & paper type of exam is held only once in a year.

OCN Exam Eligibility Criteria : In order to sit for this exam, the candidate must be a licensed registered nurse. The applicant must have at least 1 year experience in the last 3 years. Also, the candidate must have the experience of 1000 hours in Oncology Nursing in the last 2 1/2 years.

OCN Exam Pattern : All the questions in the exam are objective type i.e multiple choice questions. There are 165 questions in total. Out of this, 20 questions are protesting ones. 1/3rd questions test the knowledge of RN in major quality of life issues. The certificate issued after passing the exam will  be valid for 3 years.

OCN Exam Fee : For those who are members of Oncology nursing Society & The Association of Pediatric Oncology, the fee is $260. Those who are not a member, fee of them is $380.
