National Institute of design NID is one of the most prestigious institute for Industrial, Communication, Textile & IT Integrated Design. It was established long back in 1961. It is a government aided institute. This institute offers undergraduate & postgraduate courses. It has 3 campus in Bengaluru, Ahmadabad & Gandhinagar.
The admission in this institute is by entrance exam.

The various courses available are as follows :

1.  Graduate courses : These are for  years duration. The programs are -
a. Industrial design – Product Design, Furniture & Interior Design, and Ceramic & Glass Design
b.  Apparel Design – Textile Design
c. Communication Design – Film & Video Communication, Graphic Design, Exhibition Design Textile &   Animation Film Design

2.  Postgraduate Courses : These are for 2- 21/2 years duration. The programs are-
a.  Textile & Apparel Design – Textile Design, Apparel design & Merchandising, Lifestyle Accessory Design
b.  IT Integrated Design – Software & User Interface Design, Information & Digital design, New Media Design
c.  Industrial Design – Ceramic & Glass Design, Product Design, Transportation & Automobile Design, Furniture & Interior Design, Toy Design & Development
d.  Communication Design – Animation Film Design, Graphic Design, Film & Video Communication
e.   Design Management – Strategic Design Management.
