Maharashtra SET Exam Pattern

In order to qualify for the new scales as the Fourth Pay Commission, those who wish to get the lectureship in Maharashtra University & Institutes, have to appear in the State Eligibility Test (SET) as conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Maharashtra SET Exam Pattern : The entrance test consists of three papers. All the 3 papers will be held in one day in two session. The details of all the papers are -

  1. Paper I – This is the general paper on Teaching & Research Aptitude. There will be 60 multiple choice questions of 2 marks each. Out of this, 60 questions, each candidate has to attempt only 50 questions. If he / she attempts more than 50 questions then the first 50 will be evaluated only.
  2. Paper II  & Paper III – These corresponds to the knowledge at the post graduate level in the subject selected by the candidate. There will be objective type questions in Paper II but the paper III will consists of long & short answer type questions based on the subject as selected by the candidate.
  3. Paper I & II will be of 75 minutes duration each. Each paper will be of 100 marks. These two papers will be conducted in the first session. Paper III will be conducted in the second session which is of 2 1/2 hours i.e 150 minutes. It will be of 200 marks.
  4. Those who didn’t appear in either Paper I or II will not be eligible to give paper III. Paper III will be evaluated only after the candidate manage to get the qualifying exam in the paper I & II.

Maharashtra SET Exam Center : The exam will be conducted in Mumbai, Kolhapur, Jalgaon, Nanded, Nagpur, Sholapur, Pune, Nasik, Aurangabad, Amravati, Goa & Chandrapur.
