Sanskrit is one of the oldest language known. It is a historical Indo-Aryan language which is the official language of Uttarakhand state. It is one of 22 scheduled languages of India. This is the primary language of Hinduism and Buddhism. There is a pre-classical form of Sanskrit which is known as Vedic Sanskrit.

There are many colleges and universities in India that offers the undergraduate and postgraduate courses. In order to opt for the undergraduate course, you should have pass the 10+2 exam. And to pursue the Masters degree, the candidate must have done the undergraduate course.
There are different entrance exams conducted by different universities. However, the questions will be related to the subject in all the exams.

  4. Jawaharlal Nehru University (Masters in Arts) Sanskrit Entrance Exam
  5. Delhi University (DU) MA Sanskrit Entrance Test

Career Prospects : Those who have done undergraduate course in Sanskrit can go in teaching after doing B.Ed.A few colleges also offer Astrology as a subject along with M.A. Sanskrit. If the student has an interest in Sanskrit and its other practical areas, they can most likely turn into full time astrologers.  This field is also good for those interested in it. Moreover, the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan offers students with vocational training in Sanskrit typing as well as manuscript cataloguing.
