ICET Syllabus
ICET is the Integrated Common Entrance Test which is conducted by the Osmania University of Andhra Pradesh to select the students for admission in MCA & MBA programs in 13 universities of Andhra Pradesh & its affiliates. The Universities in which one can take admission through ICET are Osmania university, Andhra university,Telengana University, Kakatiya University, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar open University, S.K.University, JNT University, Sri Venkateshwara University, Acharya Nagarjuna University, Nalgonda University, Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswavidyalayam, yogi Vemana university, Adikavi Nannaya University.
For appearing in ICET, one should know the ICET eligibility criteria. Its very important, otherwise the application form can be cancelled by the authorities.
ICET Syllabus : It is designed according to the ICET exam pattern. The weight age of each topic is kept taking in considering its pattern of exam. There is 3 section in the exam. The syllabus in each section is as follows :
- Analytical Ability : There is 75 questions in this. Questions are asked on the basis of Data Sufficiency & Problem solving.
a. Data Sufficiency – There are 20 questions under this topic. In this, a question is asked which is followed by data in form of 2 statements. If the answer to the question can be given by statement I alone, then you have to mark the choice i as correct answer. If statement II is correct then mark ii. If both statements I & II is required to answer the question then mark iii as correct answer. If both statement I & II is not sufficient to answer the question accurately & require some more data then mark option iv as correct answer. In this way all the questions have to be answered.
b. Problem Solving – In this 55 questions are asked. The various topics under this are -
* Sequences & series : 25 questions under this. Questions are based on completion of blank space following the pattern a:b::c:d relationship, missing no. in sequence & series, odd things out, analogies of nos. & alphabets.
* Data Analysis : In this, 10 questions are asked & answers are in the form of tables, graphs, Venn diagrams, bar diagram, pie chart, etc & you have to analyze all this to answer correctly.
* Coding & Decoding Problems : In this 10 questions are asked. A code pattern of English alphabets are given & you have to decode or code a group of letters or word according to the given code.
* Data, time & arrangement problems : Again 10 questions in this section also. Questions are asked on the basis of blood relations, calendar & clock problems, arrival & departure schedules, sitting arrangements etc.
- Mathematical Ability : There are 75 questions based on following topics -a. Arithmetic ability – 35 questions are asked under this. Questions are based on rational no. percentages, profit & loss, law of indices, ratio & proportion, partnership, distance time & work etc.
b. Algebrical & Geometrical ability – 30 questions are asked based on relations & functions, truth tables, linear equations, statements, converse & inverse, quadratic equations, binomial equations, plane geometry, coordinate geometry, trigonometry.
c. Statistical Ability – Frequency distribution, mean, median, mode, standard deviation, simple problem probability.
- Communication Ability : There are 50 questions under this section. Questions will be set on vocabulary, English grammar, basic computer concepts, comprehension reading.
