CDS is Combines Defence Services Examination which is conducted by UPSC. This exam is conducted twice in a year in the months of February and September. This exam is held for recruiting the interested candidates in Officer cadre in the Army, Navy and Air Force. Those who are selected in the CDS exam, would be send to the Defence Training institutes.

CDS Scheme of Examination : The selection is done on the basis of written test and interview. The question paper is objective type. Each paper will be of 2 hours duration and carries 100 marks each. For admission to Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy, there will be papers on English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics. For admission to Officers Training Academy (OTA), there will be papers on English and General knowledge only. All the papers will be in English language only.
