CBSE Class XII Mathematics Exam Pattern

Central Board of Secondary Education has acquired brilliance in providing education at school level. There are lot many schools all over the country which are affiliated to this board. CBSE holds board exam of Class X & XII every year. Now the pass rate in Class X & XII has increased to around 68% which is much higher than previously. This all is due to increasing standard of education in India.

CBSE has issued the Class XII date sheet 2010 & Class x date sheet 2010 much earlier. This is to give ample of time for the students to prepare well.

The mathematics exam has a pattern which is well set in advance. This is as follows :



  1. Name of Topics : There are 6 topics from which questions are asked. These are Relations & functions, Algebra, Calculus, Vectors & 3-D geometry, Linear Programming and Probability.
  2. Weightage of each topic : Each topic is given a weightage i.e questions will be of fixed marks based on this topics. Weightage of Relations & Functions is 10 marks, Algebra 13 marks, Calculus 44 marks, Vectors & 3-D Geometry 17 marks, Linear Programming 6 marks & that of Probability will be 10 marks.
  3. Forms of Question : There will be 10 very short answer questions (VSA) of 1 mark each, 12 short answer questions (SA) of 4 marks each & 7 long answer questions (LA) of 6 marks each. So in total there will be 29 questions of 100 marks.
  4. Scheme of options : According to the scheme set by CBSE, there will be internal choice in any 4 questions of 4 marks each & any 2 questions of 6 marks each.
