AMIE Exam
AIME stands for Associate Membership of Institution of Engineering. It is an alternative option for all those who are unable to pursue an engineering degree from a regular engineering college. AMIE is conducted by IEI. IEI was established in Kolkata in 1920. This is able to provide non-formal education in engineering.
AMIE Examination : The examination pattern of AMIE is divided in 2 sections which is as follows -
Section A (Diploma stream) : 3 papers
Section A (Non Diploma stream) : 5 papers
Section B : 5 papers
Each paper is of 3 hrs. duration. Section A is compulsory & common for everyone. Section B is optional. You have to choose the discipline of engineering program in which you want to get the degree. The exams are held twice in a year in the months of May / June & November / December. The exams in May / June are called Summer examination whereas exams in Nov / December are called Winter examination.

Section B : After Section A, students has to complete a project work for 1 year & then they can appear for section B. The various branches of engineering covered under it are -

Dear Sir,
I had gone thru’ ur article. I would like you to clarify whether a candidate will be able to appear 5 paper of section B at a time. I had seen in many other websites that only a maximum of 4 papers ia allowed for both section A & B. If it was 5 papers for sec B , it wud have been an advantage as, the 9 papers of sec B can be completed in 2 attenpts, unlike keeping a balance of 1 paper for a long 6 months.
I would like you to confirm whether the information furnished here regarding the no: of papers that can be attended in one sitting for sec B is correct or not.

Here you have mentioned 5 papers only where as some site showing 9 which one is correct ?
Also which subject involved in Section B for Mechanical eng. course ?

My other question is how many papers we have to give in Section B,
you have mentioned 5 where as some other websites have mentioned 9, and

Dear sir, I have passed the section-A in 1992 and also i have sumitted my project in 1993. In 1994 I appeared in section-B.But i could not completed section-B. In 2000 I have submitted my Indenty card for new registration for section-B along with fee.But we could not received new identity card. Can i get new identity card for completing section-B at now. Pl reply me what we can do.
